Don't know how you do it!!! I would have to de-bone the tails wash em all out and borax them until done, then store them in bags until I needed them or wanted to dye some up.

Ya know doug, you got me thinking about those doe tails, they would be killer on the 1/8 head I been messing with, anywhere that has shad forage, it would work. painted up about 20 green chart. heads this evening, almost too cold out in the shop to paint, but it's working still. a couple jigs Iv'e tied up recently, pink and gray, and orange and gr. chart. which is an excellent producer for me.

getting ready to have a couple days off, hope to get something done. Added a little bright green to the green chart. vinyl paint the other day to green it up a little before painting those heads, they should be ready for some clear coat gloss now. would like to go fishing too, need to check the weather.

thanks Heath! hope to do some all green chart. as soon as the heads get clear coated and cured, maybe try a few lectric chickens with the gr. chart. being the main color, and the pink splashed down the sides and compare it to the ones with the pink being the main color. why do we do this to ourselves?!! lol

clear coated my gr. chart. heads today, held them up inside the lamp hood above my vice just after painting, because it was really cold out there, and I wanted to make sure they didn't haze over.

with fatman posting those jig pics with the redman head, it's growing on me, and I don't have a redman head mold. thinking about maybe making a mold for it. my kiptail jigs with the splash of contrast color down the sides, may need a fatter head to balance them out, a round head would do the same thing but I just like the redman head. May need to go as fat as 1/4 inch which is the same as a do-it 1/16 oz. round head, but with the redman head being elongated and blunt at the front, it'll be heavier than the roundhead. I made one blank like this a while back but need to get it out and look it over, it was kinda short in length.

well I do have a redman head mold it seems, but it isn't a big enough head, and the head is semi flattened on the sides, so it's not the same as what I am thinking about making. pretty cold out in the shop so not an ideal time to do it, we'll see.

Doug, yeah thats the one, it's about 1/32 maybe a touch more, and thats a size 6 vmc hook, it's a good head for a smaller jig, but it's not a true redman head in that it is flattened quite a bit, can't see that looking at it from the side view. I have some 1/4" alloy steel pins about 7/8" long that would make a great blank for a heavier one, the kiptail is really bouyant, you can see that if you drop it in a swimming pool, even with a 1/16 it drops slow, of course the more bulk you use in the body, with the hair the more bouyant it is and the thicker the threadneck is. I am waiting to see jiggerjohns freinds jigs also, may have to tie up some of those too. gotta have a head for every good fish catching jig!

actually the gr. chart. are the ones I tied today, the orange and yellow have been curing the clear coat, but I thought they would make a pretty pic.

back to work today on the 4-12 shift, probably a good thing as I didn't hit a lick the two days I was off!! lol except for tying a few and hanging out at the sporting goods store and tellin lies, and daring them not to believe me!! tied a few kiptails on the green chart. heads, trying different combos of chart. and pink and chart. and orange etc.
