Oh the guy likes what he sees, but I'm not interested in being in business, just supplying a few freinds, I can't see any money in tying a bunch of jigs, you pay retail for the materials and the shops want to buy them for wholesale. this guy is valuable tho because he is the best crappie fisherman I know, that I can actually talk to and he tells me the reality of what works and what doesn't with out all the secretive bullcrap that goes on with alot of the best local fishermen. I know of a few others that are of his caliber but they won't share their insites. another thing about tying quantities of hair jigs, I am not a fast tier and my tying process for hair is a little time consuming, I can see the quality going downhill tying a bunch of them, ten of them and I'm done for a while. lol

I did unexpectedly secure about 30 pounds of sheet lead today, 1/16" thick and alot neater and cleaner tyhan the last stuff, and it's all folded up real nice. the guy that got it for me is a bream fisherman, so I'm gonna give him a bunch of jigs, heck it might be 40 pounds, haven't picked it all up at one time.

intended on pouring some more heads this evening but had to take the wife to pick up her vehicle, so just primer painted 59 heads with white vinyl, want to get some poured and painted so they can cure and harden good for when I need them. I like the vinyl painted heads to sit for a few weeks at least before I mess with them.

Doug, I can understand you not using the vinyl with the headaches, I wouldn't use it either if that was the case, heck I still use powder at times when I don't have a couple weeks to waite for the vinyl to get hard, I slept half the day away today, had a tough day at work the other day with staying on my feet most the day, and with my condition it's taken me two days to get over it. lol going out to the shop now to do some painting and hopefully some pouring.

poured up another 100 heads from the new mold and also put the color coats on those 82 heads I poured the other day, fl. yellow for use with white hair, orange head for use with white hair or gr. chart. and green head for use with black hair. when the mold got hot I would go to painting or hold it up to the air conditioner.

You can get an infared light at the feed store the same kind you would use for a warmer . Put that on the vinyl paint . It will speed the cure without blowing you up . Also don't breath that crap please . I am well versed in its effects . I also work in health care so I know where to research stuff like that . It is a great paint with proper precautions . Lots of ventilation !!!!!

redear, I got my pouring in today!!! I didn't realize the gold hooks had a shorter eyelet length, and even with the new channel locks (which worked great!!!!) I have just a little trimming to do, most is just a little around the hook eye.

Doug, I guess you did bust a move with the lee pot! AQll I did today was work and then clear coated those heads, there was a get together across the road and I went over there to get something to eat, which burned up all my spare time tonite. that must be at least 200 heads you poured.

wow, thats alot at one crack! I hope to get some done later today. you might have to get the old dremel tool out on your redman mold to get the hook eye to sit down.

poured about 250 heads this evening, 100 of them were from the new single cavity pinkie mold 1/16, the others were from my old custom made pinkie head mold, it used to be very temperamental as far as partial pours, and I had modified it recently by deepening the sprue holes to get the pouring spout closer to the cavity, man did it ever pour sweet, I didn't have a single messed up head. also tied up three of those heads I have been painting.

Nah - it wasn't that bad just a bit. Took my gate cutters and a light squeeze and turn and they were clean, then a file across where I broke the sprues off. I was gonna paint but found 6 more bags of unpainted unsorted jigs in my paint crate that had to get sorted out, then see if I have any more hiding - then I can tell what I need to pour more of.

tied up about 30 hair jigs today on those painted up pinkie heads, fl. yellow heads and white hair was the biggest run, then bright green head with black hair. seems like every different head has a best way to tie the hair on it, still trying to figure out the best way for these heads, but doing it with two separate hair groups to cover all the way around the jig seems to be working ok. tomorrow is going to be 84 degrees, wish it was cooler, if I don't go fishing it'll be more tying.
