wanna do some painting!! It's a little cold in the shop though for vinyl paint. another week or two and I should get some warmer days.

today I worked on the mold a little, just polishing it up on the outside just for appearance, and also polished the sprue hole best I could by spinning a wad of steel wool in the hole with a countersink bit. so it is done. I have plenty of size 4 sickles, so may heat the pot up, the pot usually pours better than the ladle I use for test pours. this head makes a size 4 sickle look a little on the small side because it takes up a considerable amount of the hooks shank, but I can see this head and hook combo working for verticle jigging and dipping, maybe a good pitching jig too as it has a little weight for it's size, just a compact package.

Just a suggestion to "polish "a pour hole take a brass rod turn it just a little bigger than a the hole. Polish the brass rod and press it in to the hole. FWIW I have one mold that has a really rough pour hole. It works fine don't think it is as critical as the inside or cavity.

You are doing a good job keep up the good work. I will keep up and chime in when I feel it is nessasary. You are taking off where I left off.

thanks Redman for the suggestions and compliment!! today I plugged in the lee pot and poured maybe 125 heads in the new mold, it is probably the best pouring mold so far that I have made. every head was a beautiful smooth head with only two partial pours which happened when my spout got gunked up, just took a little allen wrench and pushed it up inside the spout, that got it going again.that lead Happy gave me some time back is beautiful stuff, pours a pretty head.

the other thing about this mold that was so cool was that after pouring a head it separated very easy and the head was easy to extract. thanks again to Redman for showing me how to make a mold like this, it adds so much satisfaction to the jig making thing.

Redear - yeah I have some of the lead from happy and it pours really nice - just like my old lead water pipe stuff. Cant wait to see what you tie up on them.

Doug, I'll clean the sprues up on these heads, and then paint them up. gotta go back to work tommorrow, I had to take three vacation days to go with my other two regular days off because I did something to my back and it took six days to get right, today is the first day that I could straighten up while walking. the guys at the sporting goods store where I hang out didn't cut me any slack either, when I'd come in there all hunched over with a cane. lol

I just had my Doc appt yesterday and I whacked my back again. Not supposed to be doing alot and was out using the snow blower for 2 hours tonight so really sore. The lidocaine patchs work good though. .
