Man I'm really liking that pinkie head!!!!!!!!!! Kip tail has always been a pain to buy unless you're there to check it out. But when you're used to it it's fine. I have a really small hair stacker and I've used it on kip before and it works okay. I've had a worn out little girl here from fishing and her travels with grandma, so no time to pour the mold yet!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll post em up when I do though!!!!!!!!! Great pics and again I'm liking that head shape - have you heard anything from the guys that you were going to pour them for???

well you can pour anytime, taking that little girl out fishing is more important, it's the memories that count. doug, it's best not to stack kiptail most the time because it makes the ends all the same length which to me doesn't look right. today I poured a bunch of jigheads with two of the old school molds, the pinkie mold and the redman mold, it was probably 300 heads all together. I only had a few partial pours and that was because the spout was getting dirty, I cleaned it with a tiny allen wrench and it went right back to doing good. was surprised at how many heads I got done, these molds are actually easier to handle than a do-it, and I had absolutely no flash on any of the heads, only thing that needs doing is to smooth down the sprue cutoff with a file.

Definately a bunch of jig heads!!!! Plenty of painting to do now and tying them up. I have 4 1/2 days left with her, and we've already got a bunch of fishing times left!!!!!!!!

really did enjoy the pouring session today, didn't seem like just a job but a lot of fun with those molds and how well they poured, I can honestly say that they poured better than any other mold I have, I am sure it's got a lot to do with the shortness of the sprue hole, and maybe the size of the hole being a touch bigger than alot of my molds, but hey, it beats having alot of partial pours like what I get with my do-its, this lead I had today was getting alot of slag on top constantly but the lead underneath was good, if I had poured a do-it mold with the lead I had today it would have been a bust. may fire up the pot again tomorrow, not feeling like fishing in the heat for some reason. will paint the pinkies up a little at a time, the vinyl paint takes some time to do right

Heath, I recieved the package from you today, thank you very much for the lead! It will come in handy for sure. I did get out in the shop and poured about 75 more pinkie heads, used the long shank size 6 eagle claw 574 hooks, they will fit the bream and perch better than the size 4 vmc's, also I smoothed out alot of the heads I poured yesterday, filing down the sprues. these pinkie jigs have a more petite look to them in comparison to my other heads from the old custom mold, the reason is these newer heads have no collar and this gives the whole jig a different look, I can use less hair with the newer ones too, allowing more movement of the hair.

No problem Kip, I know you will put it to good use...

Redear - if that's the same lead I traded him for you're gonna LIKE IT!!!!!!!! If the pinky's pour up with the other lead you're using go ahead and pour it all up and save the good stuff!!!!! We told you once you started pouring your molds you wouldn't want to stop!!!!! it's just as addicting as tying.

yeah, I'm gonna pour this other lead till it won't pour any more, not gonna mix the two. got to pouring today and planned on doing a good bit but it was so humid and uncomfortable out there with the doors open, been getting alot of rain, and when the sun came out it was like a sauna. so I wrapped it up before I got on a roll, did tie up some more pinkie jigs though, a few green head and white hair.

I tell ya what continues to amaze me, is not only do these little one cavity molds do the job, they do it very well. being small they are easy on your hands and wrists, and the smoothness and accuracy of the pour is better than what I'm used to. I really am very thankful to redman for sharing his molds with us.

yeah, mine get warm too, when it does I slow down and cut some sprues and file them. the other day I had two molds going and would let one cool down when I picked up the other. tried the 1/70 mold today and had to tweak it some, got tired of the handles and the hinge not being true so I took them off. the mold did good, there was a little flash because of me getting too close to the cavity with the hook eyelet recess, may fix that later with jb weld but can use it the way it is.

Guess that is one of the things that you guys missed. That is the reason that we put 20 penny spike handles and gas line grips. They do Get HOT. I have poured many a jig with gloves on one hand. I got some old wool gloves that I use for this purpose.

But do what works for you. I guess I am hard headed and just keep on pouring but heat doesn't bother me as I have had to work with hot metal all my working career. That's what happens when you get to be a Cranky old Geezer.

yeah, I'm not too concerned with how many I get done, and how fast. If it gets too warm I just stop and do something else for a while.

yeah, I think the sf blend will make some great jigs, it's translucsency and shine make it different, some colors have more shine than others in my opinion, the gray and the shrimp color are two that have alot of holographic shine. the tied jig I'm holding up is the shrimp color, a real natural muted shade, that will make a great minnow, I can see this stuff being good for cast and retrieve jigging. It looks better when you leave it long and tapered like a small crappie minnow, it's a little stiff to be cutting short.
