Redear, just make sure that whatever materials that you get, "go with the flow" of the wool jig. For instance, I've used the wider Viola pearl strip material on other jigs, but it is way too stiff to use with Red's style jig. The thin fiber plucked off the pearlized sheen, tho, is very skinny & limber; remember it is so "loose" that it curls along the sides ,until it is in water swimming(where it mostly straightens, yet with a "twister tail type motion"). Just recently, Red was expounding on some slender , straight, feather type jigs as not having what he prefers in a "substantial" body, caused by the wool's water absorption in his jigs, which also "pushes" the hopefully soft, limber materials around this center mass to have them benefit in action from the water flow coming from around the leading jighead.Red admits the "flu-flu" types will catch fish, but wants every edge he can get in shape& motion for ultimate appeal. I liken this to my youthful days in fishing live minnows - I always tried to reach for the chubbiest, most hardy, crazed swimmer in the minnow bucket!
