"Earlier this month, members of a Texas group calling itself Open Carry Tarrant County marched into their local Dallas-area Chipotle and scared customers half to death."

Here's two of em on the scene.

I have seen both extremes of people who have their conceal carry license. There are only a few that actually make me feel safer. The majority that i know, just thinks it makes them look cool and go out of their way to show you their gun. Those guys make me nervous, same as the 2 pictured above would. Honestly, one of my local law officers makes me as nervous as them since he touches the butt of his gun every 10 seconds when you talk to him........... even if you are just having a conversation at the gas station buying coffee. So not sure which is worse.

I carry a tire iron in my bucket when i fish alone at night. Haven't had to use it yet. ;)

My view on it is that I'd rather have one and never use it than to not have one and wish I did. I don't go around flashing a gun. You won't see it unless you NEED to see it!

I have to go in the worst parts of towns so it's a no brainer for me. I had one instance that it really opened my eyes not long ago. I was at a red light in a terrible downtown area. It was early so no one was out and about (that should be). I see a rough lookin guy walk up behind my truck. Something just looked fishy by the way he was walking up. So I laid the gun on the console. Then he runs up to my passenger door and starts tryin to get in. He saw the gun and took off. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't had it. Maybe nothing but he wanted something. I get to thinking what if it would have been my wife instead of me.

My view is everyone should be allowed to open carry everywhere except for a bank & a bar.

I hate big cities and avoid them as much as possible. If i had to regularly travel to them, i would apply for the CC permit as well.

I have had 3 customers in my store in the recent past, pull back their jacket to go out of their way and show off a gun in their holster.

For home defense..... i made sure my wife knows how to load our 20GA. May never need to actually load a shell, the sound of cycling the chamber can be a deterrent on its own.

In HI public carry open or concealed is strictly limited to law enforcement. Luckily, in our rural area threats of violence are minimal, tho I have heard what sounded like fire exchange a few times. A firearm is the most efficient line of defense from invasion of property or person and I wish the law here was different, but is what it is.

Of course, those outside the law can easily aquire and pack. Heck, a friend of mine who runs a weekly swap meet booth recently offered me literally, an under the table choice of Saturday night specials.

The blue line here is thick too. Like the general population, there will always be a few wacks in LE. One cop ran his wife over on a public highway, and another off duty DUI smacked a fellow officer writing a traffic ticket, both incidents fatal. There was indication that only citizen activism prevented these incidents from being buried. Recently, a perp running from a transport vehicle was fatally backshot - haven't heard the outcome of that.

Gee, Jigman, I thought y'all packed 14s or 16s when dining out...

If the nation had not been dumbed down by all the propaganda horse crap that has been staged or manipulated there would not be the fear of guns . All it is going to take is one man with a tater fork to make the news in a supposed mass attack and we'll be eating with our fingers again . Who am I kiddin I still eat with my fingers . Lucky me I'm already politically correct . Does that mean I'll escape the F.E.M.A. camps .

Hihihi those guys look funny. If I were a tourist I´d totally go for a picture, too! Teenagers entering a diner with assault rifles remind me of my truck driving days as a conscript in the navy. When we had a truck full of ammunition to look after, they would even give us 3 or 4 live rounds (not clips!) for them. Prefered sidearms though.

Good thing we don´t have that many shootings over here, otherwise we probably needed more guns to defend ourselves, too.

No truer words than "Outlaw Guns & Then Only Outlaws Will Have Guns"
Best way to keep "Them" off is for "Them" to know You have a weapon --- even better if they Know that You Know how to use it.

While I'm not against guns per se, I am against open carry and especially stunts like these. The reason is if you don't know the carrier, you have no way of knowing their intent. It could be benign, but on the other hand you could be victim #1 at the next nutso's shooting spree massacre. Most of them don't give any warning, they just start opening fire. Who wants to take that chance?
