Haven't posted in awhile, thought I'd show some of the recent jigs I've been painting.

I've been making these almost three years and yes, they do catch fish. Main colors resemble bait fish like bluegill , green sunfish, etc. that bigger fish eat. When I tie I use similar colors in the jigs.

I caught the white bass my last trip to local river, just under 3#. Hair jigs catch everything depending on size. Mostly tying baits with fox lately, even caught two grass carp with them a couple weeks ago.

I agree with the others Jim, very nice work. My river is just now becoming fish able and those you sent me are slated for my next trip out. I went experimenting and did well last Saturday so now the light rods and the hair and feathers come out. I’ll post pics when I go.

Overall I'd say I use hand ties over plastics 95% of the time for panfish and 50% for bass and other larger predators.

Good to know you're still in the saddle. Could you post some of your panfish jigs? What weights and hooks sizes?

Most of my panfish jigs are in the 1/64- 1/24 range with hook sizes 6-10. Seldom use heavier jigs unless I'm fishing rivers since most of the ponds and small lakes I fish are shallow. Ties are small, seldom over 1.5" long. Favorites are tied mainly with duck flank feathers or rabbit. IMG_6527.JPGIMG_6264.JPGIMG_5745.JPG

Your forte appears to be creative artistry. Keeping it fresh is fun, eh?

What kind of flash fibers are you using? It really glistens in the light.

Are you using some kind of a black marker pen?

For the past few years the only flash I've been using is Krinkle Mirror Flash by CASCADE. Have tons of other flash but this has a scaly appearance that I really like and fish approve of it as well.
