Has anyone here been tying mop jigs or flies?

On one lake here guys have been hammering the trout on mop flies under an indicator. I'll bet they would work as well as a tiny jig.

I've been meaning to do some, but with everything going on in my life right now, I haven't got the time or space to do any tying. That, and I need to buy some mops.

I grabbed some material from a commercial fly tier and tied one but didn`t like it. But that`s just me. We don`t do float & fly over here and I find it inapropiate for a a horizontal presentation.

These things catch fish though. I`m sure it will work on a very light panfish jig.

I did make some up. The material came off of a hand sized scrub mop. They worked ok, but nothing spectacular. The short length of the material is a draw back in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Made some up but all my favorite lakes & streams are closed due to drought & fire.
