Here's one I'll call a Fuzzy Bug. It's tied with a wrap of Bernat Fab Faux chenille yarn in sable color. The legs and antennae are quartered boot lace. Used a 3/8-oz. football head jig with a 3/0 black nickel hook. The head is painted "plum brown" with a 50/50 mix of black and red powder paint by Harbor Freight.

That looks pretty darn good . With the crappy water conditions here that color would turn one out . If they ain't been boiled alive . Had the best 2 minute rain this summer yesterday .

Too nice to fish !

How long does that masterpiece take to tie?

Honestly, I don't believe that anything I tie is complicated. Getting an initial idea for a new-to-me creation is what takes me the most time. Usually, it comes from just viewing materials that I find attractive to tie with combined with thoughts of critters or other lures.

The legs are simply figure 8 wrapped much like dumbbell eyes along a hook shank. The chenille is wrapped the length of the body and between the legs. Currently, I can cut legs for these in, perhaps, less than 5 minutes. To reproduce this jig, it might take me 10 minutes or less.

Pup nice tie like that one. We have a big old water spider that has a gray body that it would be a dead ringer for. I might have to do a couple of them to try. Who knows This might be a true Crappie Killer. If not the bream might go crazy with it.

Thanks Redman. :)

Tied another one last night that reminds me of a giant tick. I'm looking forward to fishing these 3/8-ouncers on heavy line down at my local river this fall. Hope to interest some of the larger resident smallmouth bass with them.
