It... is... going... rather... slowly... Wife and kids here are starting to argue over who's night it is to draw a name.

But hey, shoreline ice went bad over the weekend (actually went through in knee deep water spudding my way out) so "nothing for a man to do but sit around and think" for a while.

Would be willing to bet that the icebergs floating out in the middle of all the lakes would still hold me..... getting to them is the tough part. Shoreline is open (or slush) for about 10'-15' out. My 5' planks just don't quite make it.

I don't know that I'd be willing to push the ice's ability to hold one's self up - as up here (MN), the ice is looking real bad. Alot of it is looking slushy, or worse - BLACK.

UncleGrump - I know, i gave it up for the year. Have all my ice gear ready to get left out in the sun for a day to dry then store it till next season. We had a day of rain that really did a number on it. I fished mid-day on Saturday and cut through over 14" of ice. It was just starting to honeycomb, but not bad. Shore ice was sinking some, so had to wade through a couple inches of water to get out..... but even the shore ice was still pretty solid on Saturday. I tried 3 different reservoirs on Sunday and could not get out on any of them. It literally went bad over night as you often hear people talk about.
