I will say that I like to express my self with my jig creations. Been doing this all most all my life since I was a kid of 8 or 9. Now that I am in my dotage it is a relaxing hobby to fill some time. It has lead me to meet interesting people and opened doors for me that would have been other wised closed. Besides that I am becoming a crazy old swampper that like to try to live simple life style of self reliance. Tying jigs is part of that self reliance. The other plus for me is that I have become a better fisherman because of it and can now out fish my Brother-in-Law which angers him greatly. I just love pestering him.

Cause my no account wife is too daggone lazy to tie them for me.:D

Actually though closer to what Sonny said. I never could find exactly what I want . When you buy someone else jigs you are limited to their imagination.

When you tie your own your horizons are unlimited.

Public answer: Quality jigs can't be bought and it is very relaxing.

Private answer: meal worm loses too many jigs and it is nice when meal worm catches those 2 pounders on my jigs.

I had to find something that I'm good at. Store bought jigs are expensive and don't have the variety and quality that I look for.

I love to tinker, I'm addicted to fishing.....

...it was only a matter of time before I started making, pouring and tying my own jigs.
...It is relaxing
...I can always tie when its blowing
...hard to beat catching a fish on something I made
...store bought jigs are carp...

I find the exploration of tying to be the quiet thrill. The first jig I tied in mylar silver gift bag shredding from the Dollar Tree now has caught 21 species of fish and still counting.....is enjoyment at it's best. And now, tying with the iridescent strands of shredding to be just as promising......the little boolie with the iridescent tail caught 3 trout (3 lbs each) and the 6 lb bass all caught by my friend just two weeks ago....well, you can imagine......

It's the thrill of discovery for me.....

My Dad did saltwater tackle for 8-9 shops. I didn't fish.....yet. He passed away and my Mom asked if I would be interested in all his stuff so I could try it. After many months learning on the net, sites like this and others, Youtube..........game on lol. For the past year, my fun time is learning these jigs, saltwater for business.

Mr G (hunter) got me started. Truthfully I'm not good at sitting down and tying is the only time I do. I don't enjoy the process very much any more, but it's the perfect get away when I can't hit the bayou or am not with my son. However, I breathe sac fishing, am pretty good at it and my jigs seem to do the job, so thats where most of the joy comes from.
