Whiskas on a fish don't look so bad....

I had a spike tail mold laying around and figured: why not attach the tails on either side of a worm or grub segment? I've wacky rigged similar designs and done very well for different species and figured the subtle quiver of the tips should do very well. I wasn't wrong:

I named the design Whiskas because to me it resembles a thin mustache when attached to the mouth of a fish.

I remember sitting around a campfire at a RS rodeo and Charlie Case was playing with a BIC lighter and Jacks worms.

He glued two together and came up with his version of the wacky worm, then started marketing them with his normal products. They were a hit to the anglers.

Worked today as well as yesterday except in a different lake:



Crappy and yellow perch were also caught on it. What a perfect day to fish: partly sunny, mild and a breeze not affecting the cast into weed pockets.

I don't fish plastics much but this is something I want to try. Stingers are one of my favorite plastics. Do you melt these or glue them?

Hold each end to be joined over a candle flame for a second. With a steady hand, I hold the slightly melted ends together for 3 seconds. The seam between the parts could be a potential tear once fish are caught so I use a battery-powered soldering iron to smooth it by melting the plastic on both sides toward the seam. If the lure is of a decent diameter, I roll the seam over the flame, turning the lure just fast enough so it doesn't catch on fire but still has a smooth surface.
