Chili works. On cold days when no one goes any place, the chef at my house makes an excellent roast in the cast iron dutch oven. One of those that takes half the day and the oven warms up the house. Taters and carrots & onions cook with it then juices into gravy with the whole mess piled over fat amish noodles in a bowl. Usually a couple quart freezer bags shredded after dinner for BBQ beef later.

Hey Fred Flintstone....... save some for the rest of us!

Mama made some homemade chicken and dumplings. She always makes it heavy on the chicken ( lots of meat ) and heavy on the dumplings. So thick more like a stew than a soup. But egad it be finger licking good. Made a little bright spot in a dreary day.

Cooked allot for Dad when I was back in CA.

Best meal that everyone raved about was when I converted his grill into a smoker. First, soaked a couple cups of hickory wood chips in water for an hour, then wrapped them up in a pillow of foil with a bunch of holes poked into it. He has a dual burner grill, so put the foil pack on the flame side of the grill. On the 'cold' side of the grill put salmon marinated overnight n soy, teriyaki, chopped onions & garlic, fresh grated ginger, EVOO, and sesame seeds. Turned the flame side on low & let the salmon slowly grill for two hours - the smell of the smoke drove the neighbors nuts. 1/2 hour before the salmon was done, put a bunch of crab-stuffed mushrooms on the 'hot' side of the grill then served with a cold marinated asparagus salad and fried potatoes.

Thanks guys.

That was a staged shot. I had a buddy take my D40, kneel down on the floor next to my saute station, and zoom in. I had the saute pan going, empty, over high heat until it was smoking. I told my buddy that once I dump the booze in, just press down and HOLD the shutter button (had it set for Burst Mode). In goes the booze. You can see the cup in my left hand. After a dozen good captures, we switched and I got several captures of him doing the same thing.
