they don't make it out to the rivers or lakes?

This evening my wife helped herself (with my approval of course) to about two dozen jigs I'd tied over the past couple of years. They were just sitting ...inside of a box. Now they're resting inside of a gift box, ultimately heading to someplace else for a permanent stay. Merry Christmas to the recipient.

Several, I honestly didn't remember tying...:-/

So, do you fish with every jig that you tie? What other things (besides selling them for fishing) do you do with yours? I've had more than one person contact me about making mobiles and other artistic pieces with some of my jigs adorning driftwood. Maybe someday...

I fish most, sell enough to pay for some of my materials, and give some to family and friends. I don't make anything too complicated that I hesitate breaking it off or beating it up!

It seems my box is always the last to get some pup...I really dont sell that many, and I give away many more than I ever tie for myself..

I watch a couple of fishing forums, and can usually tell if someone really needs some and might use them..Ive sent many packs out over the years..have gotten to know a few of them, and makes it worth all the effort..I still get reports and or pics from something I might have sent a few years ago..

Kinda how I got back into tying several years ago,I had been PM'ing with a guy not to far from me in W Tx about our crappie fishing...One day out of the blue he asked if he could send me a few of his jigs.Couple days later I had a pack at the door with literally hundreds of some of the best looking jigs Id ever, and still have ever seen.It really meant a lot to me and try to pay that forward as often as I can..

I've given some away, some went to charities to raise money for causes like Special Olympics,Breast Cancer,Diabetes. I've also traded some like my duck jigs for feathers. A doctor in Georgia who I used to trade feathers for jigs father made collages with some of them. After his father passed away we lost touch. I would love to have seen some of his dad's artwork.Rad,do you still have any of those jigs left? Maybe take a picture of a few,I'd like to see them.

I donate allot of river conservation groups for membership drives & raffels for cash donations.

I'm also a sucker for any organization that deals with the military or with helping kids from low-income families.

Lastly, when I fish with someone new, I typically throw a few at them.

I sell a few jigs every now and then and have a box that is over running right now. 99% of the time I'm using my tied jigs and I leave many of them at the lakes in brush piles! I give many jigs away to different groups needing donations. Rad, I also watch for young guys just getting into fishing that needs a little help starting out but would never ask for help. I sent a guy this year a small flat rate box as full as I could get it of jigs. He never thought he would receive so many jigs. It is a joy to pay it forward and I hope one day that young guy will help someone else starting out. Over the years there have been a few that I have helped and I hope as time passes I will see others that need some jigs because they sure add up fast!!:)

Like most here I sell some, fish a lot and give a lot away. My neighbors son got a lot of jigs off me during the summer, I also donated a few dozen to some local bass clubs as prizes for the kids casting and fishing events. I also use a lot more that a lot as the rivers I fish are extremely rocky so a good jig bite will result in losing a doen or more a trip but that has to be a good jig bite. The last time that happened was late spring this year, we were catching small fish on reaction baits and a little better fish on tubes but dragging a bucktail was getting big fish, 16" and up but I'd lose about 1 jig for every two fish and that day we got over 40 fish so I lost almost 2 dozen jigs so I can deplete my box pretty quick.

I tie some for fundraisers at work. Would be a great idea to give some away for Christmas gifts for kids or others that could use them that may not have the means or money to buy them. If anyone has something like this that they donate to or some one that would enjoy jigs as a gift let us know.

Sometimes I get an idea about a certain jig, then I tie it and put it in my tackle box, never to be seen again. Most of the jigs I own, have never been fished. :-/

Give them away at work. I have some of the micro sizes like 1/60 and 1/90th oz. that I am having a hard time finding homes for. No one around me uses them.
