New beginning in a very different from previous place is my experience starting last year.
Since I like wide open spaces and wandering shoreline alone, my choice would have been the sparsely populated Hawaiian islands of Lanai or Molokai. But, Ogallala was where I could afford to be a homeowner and the winter open water trouting & catfishing was a nice bonus.
If you can live with LOTS of rain(but no snow!) and the possibility of lava flow, you can still buy a building lot in Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii for under $10 gs and small acreage for under 25. The area will continue to grow and a good tradesman can always find gainful employment.
Cldnt see myself living anywhere but Louisiana.
I'm sure there are areas that I'd find a few things to do that I cldnt here, but it'd all boil down to missing LA over time.
Honestly, same here. Would love to visit a whole lot of places but would miss NW Ohio before long. Got the big lake an hour to the North, couple rivers to wade, lots of little city lakes, big cities all over an hour away and can start getting into rolling hill country if you drive little over an hour South East. Ice in the winter and warm enough to wet wade in the summer.
I would homestead..about 1000 acres in Choteau, Montana or Sheridan,Wyoming...and made sure I had no close neighbors....plus no TV's....No Electricity...just getting back to the basics of life !!..:icon14:
If I knew then what I know now...the possibilities would be endless! Saltwater fishing in Florida, Elk hunting in the Rockies, visit Hawaii, Australia, Africa, Alaska, Ireland, New Zealand, etc...ENDLESS!
