I got my squid heads from Heads and Tails Lure Co. They are very nice and exactly what I was looking for. These are 1 oz. I caught a 6' Humbalt Squid while out at sea out of San Diego a few years ago and wanted to copy that color first.I custom mixed a redish brown with brown tapped over the top. It's really close to what I remember. The second I dipped in brown first, then a couple taps of silver bronze, then a tap of watermelon flake. All tyed with colors of bucktail and a couple with some heavy flash that I got from Hawn out of Hi. to act as tenacles.

Thanks everyone.I'm going to try these out and see if it's worth buying that custom mold.I have no idea what it cost, but goes 1/2,3/4,1 and 1 1/2 and 2 oz.Shawn Collins makes it.I want to use the jig itself before I go crazy with them though.

If it's a shelf mold I would go for it - but if you have to wait for it to be cut you may have problems. His molds are outstanding - worth the extra cash (not sure about the wait).

The squids are excellent and sure to be chewed - great work

Let me know if you check out the price. I would be interested also, but have heard that his "customer service" end may be suspect at times.

Score Salty!!! Love those colour combos. Would fish em anywhere there's salt in the water. Those heads troll well too.
