SERIOUSLY, it was probably my PHENTEX YARN clipped loop fly. I used Yellow yarn and coloured it with permanent markers.

Very nice tie!!!! SM

Thanks I tied that a few years ago as an experiment. Only made one and lost it on a big smallie that took me into a log jam. was using 4 pound test so no way I was getting it back. Thanks to Russ for reminding me of sculpins and leading me back to this jig/fly. I'm going to get out the Phentex and see if I can create a few more.

God Bless,
Don

Yeah - that is the one! Love the mottled look it has. Don't even think we have sculpins in my waters (honestly have no clue) but we sure have the Gobies up on Erie and there are so many little darter fish and mad-toms in my river that any sculpin pattern is a sure thing.

I've been wanting to try and make a goby-looking tied jig on a regular lead head. That may be a project for me. :D

Russ,

Here's the link for the technique.
http://flyanglersonline.com/features/canada/can250.php I tied this fly on a small jighead and glued the doll eyes to each side of the jig head.

God Bless,
Don
