Patent... haha. Just a few pieces of bent alum. sheeting. Now the vision in my head of a 'machined' version of this would perhaps be worthy of a patent. ;)

Got some put together for a few people who asked about them and made a few xtras in the process that will be just laying around. If anyone else wants to fool with them let me know.

Could you put a slotted hole in the front of mine for width adjustments and a another contraption on the rear that will go around a hook shank or collar and lock down with a torx so it won't move, lol.

Sent out a few of these yesterday so figured i would just post up here how to bend them to the shape i am using. After they are bent to the general shape, have been bending them side to side, up/down and anyway i can to get them to sit flat on the jighead. Have to adjust the angle a little for each one, the metal is very easy to bend. It all depends on what you are holding your jighead with to get the right angles. You want it so the plate will lift nearly straight up off the head when you push down on the handle end. If it slips side to side when you push down, it will push the powder with it. Like i said before - it does not come out perfect every time - just have to get the right angle and push down straight on the handle end.

---------------

Bending them down over a countertop edge or other hard corner is easiest. The 3 lines are to show the general area to bend. Here is pretty much the starting shape i use:

1st bend: Flip it so the color side is down, silver side up. Bend at the center line of the 3 lines. Bend it down against the hard edge to make a 90 degree corner.

2nd bend: Flip it so the color side is up now and bend the end opposite from the holes. Bend it down against the edge to make a ~45 degree corner this time.

3rd bend: Keep it colored side up but now bend at the line on the other end that has the hole. Bend it down against the edge to make another ~45 degree corner.

Not sure if it helps or not, but i bent the hole plates on mine so they have a spoon shape. Can do that pretty easy just with your thumbs.

Wait till you see my latest re-production of this system! It will be about version 4.0 after a few failed attempts. Confiscated a few more pieces and parts from w@rk. :sleepy: Have a nice solid base now!

Thanks Russ,I got an envelope today.Sitting here looking how to bend them right now.I'm thinking instead of the 1/4" 3-D eye on my Ultra Minnows to just make them out of paint and fill the cavity,oh,we'll see.

Pretty sure there are some left, made 6 or 8 and only sent out maybe half of them. Think i stashed them somewhere in the back room @ work - have to re-locate them. Can send you a set no problem once i find them. :) Will look tomorrow.

Need to show off the one i am using now. Had to buy a few pieces of marble from work - one for the lever action and one to hold forceps. Attached a dozen or so magnets (also bought from work) to hold the forceps at any angle. :D Made a bunch of new shape stencils too!!! Stripes, scales and such.

The hardest thing to get right with these is getting a VERY VERY thin coverage of paint. If you get too much paint either on the main jig color or when you make the eyes, as they cure in the oven the paint will run and sag. Been think that if i can convert the rotisserie feature in my toaster oven into a jig holder and rotate them while they bake, maybe no sags even if i get too much paint. maybe..........

yeah Doc but when the Pony/horsehead/minnow head jigs little raised eye from lead in order to use those 3D eyes you have to either sand/file them smooth or they really won't stick!!!!!!!!!!!!

These work pretty well for that.... easy to tell where you put the dot - right on the raised lead. :P I use some of the 1/16 & 1/32 minnow heads that have a cheap a$$ hook in them and the smallest size hole works best.

Envelope hit the mail yesterday Fatman. Go easy on the amount of powder for each eye..... it adds up quick and will sag and give you a lazy eye or 2.

Salty - did you manage to get any to work?
