Saw this thing not sure if it would work or not but it has pretty much all the same designs that I have seen being made for cutting zonker strips. Anyone ever use one of these things and do you think it would work for cutting up Mr Bunny.

I think that you should buy it and start raising rabbits in your back yard, lol.

Only if I can use you as the POSTER CHILD for then I know it would surely succeed. The videos would be so cool Sir Brucey surrounded by 100's of White Bunny Rabbits sitting on some Kentucky Blue Grass the possibilities are endless....

Thanks CH I think it would work as well for that purpose for it seems to be in the same design pattern as some home made ones i have seen on here.

As for the rest of you that peaked in Sorry It Wasnt A Jig and I knew it would throw you for a loop from the daily routine. "Looks Good, Jig Looks Nice, Like The Pretty Color" you know that sort of thing.

FLEA MARKET NEXT WEEK AT BRUCES HOUSE YOU ARE ALL INVITED MORE FISHING SUPPLIES THAN YOU HAVE EVER SEEN UNDER ONE ROOF... JUST FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD IT WILL TAKE YOU RIGHT TO THE PLACE.....

Should work but i would not plan on using the top black bar that holds the leather down...... betting it would cause alot of the fur to get cut up in the process.

These multi-cutting tools are pretty cool, but only way i would ever plan on making or buying one was if i was to buy full hides and SELL the cut strips or if i was selling LOTS of rabbit jigs. Can use a single blade and cut them one by one pretty easily.

Would agree with you unless you are making them bunny jigs in outrageous numbers which I could only see happening is if you are selling them or selling the zonker / cross cut strips it would probably be easier just buying the precut packages.

You would probably loose the most hair doing the cross cut of the skin zonkers I dont think you would loose that much for it looks like the bar has an adjustable setting as far as tension applied to the skin

BUt I did see something close to this design someone made on JC the only thing they where short was the cross bar and housing unit.

This is an interesting tool, as are the homemade ones.

I'm with AF's opinion. Buy one only if I need large numbers of strips. Might look one over at a nearby Tandy Leather Factory Store.

I read that these tools are best for cutting firm 3 to 5-oz. leathers. One ounce of leather equates to about 1/64 of an inch, so it might be OK for my rabbit pelts. Rabbit hide/skin is not particularly firm or thick in my opinion.

I have a pair of Cutter Bee/Honey Bee scissors that I really like. Plan to use them on one of my rabbit hides to cut short zonker strips. They are extremely sharp and cut straightly along very fine lines. Versatile too, as their blade tips cut tight curves cleanly.

It will work with bunny , vinyl cloth , leather , rubber , and other like materials . Rubber products are real tricky . Can't hardly get a straight cut if it is stretchy rubber . Silicone cuts a little better . Used its big brother in cable manufacturing . Didn't even Know one that small existed .

Sometimes when you enjoy doing something, you have to break away from that MICKY MOUSE BUDGET PLAN and splurge a bit and spend a little bit of money. I just see no satisfaction, happiness or joy in anything in the world if you are going to spend you entire life worried about spending a little bit of money. As far as justification for the cost, is there really such a thing, if you are happy with it and happy with the final out come of what you are using it for, is that not justification enough. I think it is and I am sure glad I missed the money is everything bus, got to keep it cant spend it and enjoy some of the little things in life that makes one feel good. Life is just too short to spend it being a penny pinching cheap a$$ good for nothing, that is no way to spend a life time.... At least I dont think it is.... thats my 2 cents worth take it or leave it, most will leave it and that is fine, but dont you get tired of hearing people whine about money all the time, especially when you are hearing it from others that are allot better off than yourself.

As some of you know I have been out of work for going on two years now,and being over 50 is not a good thing when it comes to finding a new job in todays world, yet I dont walk around complaining about how much everything costs these days that is just a waste of time and energy, instead you fine other ways and means to get done what you have to get done it is that simple, you adapt and adjust and most of all have faith, you would be surprised what you can do and accomplish just by not loosing faith.... Boy does venting make
you feel much better yes it does....

Wow,you're over 50 !! What's it like ?? As much bunny as I go through along with the rising costs of crosscut skins I could use one of those or you can buy one doc and I'll send you some skins to cut for me. I'll try to keep you busy and out of trouble for a little while anyway. Something like that would pay for itself after a dozen skins or so.

How many skins you gonna start with Jungle make it worth my wild I would think 80-100 pounds of rabbit skins would be a good starting point, give me a time frame when I can start looking for them to show up here, and throw in a few extras for practice would you....

Looks like an interesting tool. Can you set the depth of the blades? If you're able to set them slightly higher than the thickness of the hide, it would prevent cutting the hair.

Seriously, guys. I know some of you tie on $150+ vises with those expensive automatic bobbins, and you're complaining about a $50 leather cutter? ;)

Doc.... you ever buy a rabbit hide and try cutting one with a blade of any kind??? Go back and read Stump's post about how his worked - not as 'cut & dry' as it sounds like it should be. It does work but there is a big learning curve. Between finding quality hides and keeping the hair intact there is alot of work to put out a quality product. I would never buy a full hide without having it in hand and seeing the quality of the leather and the fur.

You can spend your $$$ on whatever you want...... don't ask for oppinion if you don't want to hear both sides. ;)

Got no problems hearing both sides that is the whole point of the matter, but to constantly hear the whining "that it is too expensive for me" is not an opinion from the other side unless you are referring to the far side, that is more a personal issue than it is an opinion, which should be kept personal unless you dont mind the whole world knowing that you are living way beyond and above your means if $5 is going to make or break you. That is not an opinion that is a personal problem and should be kept as such....
