Salty, get a heat gun. I have the fluid bed going with the white. Heat the jig with a torch if I have gas in the tank lol, dip into the fluid bed, flip over and tap the orange on the underside of the minnow, flip over and hold over the heat gun for a few seconds, then do the top color and both sides with the brush. When you get set up like this, after the jig is heated, from the dip into the fluid bed, other 2 colors, (or 3) it only takes about 25-30 seconds from bare to done when heated, hang to cool.
I think heating stuff in the toaster oven is a PITA.

The dual temp Wagner I got was in the painting section and only runs about $22 plus tax at Home Depot. The heavy duty ones in the tool section run $89 and up!!! Don't need those big ones for jigs.

I would still like to get an alcohol lamp........

I bet you have something that is 'close enough for goverment work' sitting around somewhere. If you (or the Mrs.) have ANY stlye of oil lamp either decorative or useful lantern - that will work! Is what i use...... and prefer the citronella oil in it. :D Not for the bug repelling properties though since there are not too many in my basement other than siders, the citronella oil just seems to burn longer and has a more even flame. Put a glass flute on the top of the lamp and it funnels the heat up to a precise spot where you can set a jig on the end of forceps. ;)

You can get a large container of the oil for cheap in the garden section - they sell it to go into the Tiki torches. Have seen what is most likely the same exact oil (without the citronela) in with the candle section at walmart.... for double the cost. The camping section might have it as well.

I am surprised more people don't use the air gun set up for powder paint. Clumsy as I am its probably the only way for me on multi colors. Say I am using a 4-color set. Have four feed bottles filled 1/2 way with selected colors. I do base coat first. Put that jar away. Do the back next put that jar away. Throat or gill color next put that jar away. Finish with clear coat or say light glitter and put that jar away. Shut off air pump then stick in oven to cure.

Pull from oven after cure either install or paint eyes, Dress as planned .

I will give it another try Papa, because I do see there are some good affects you could do. I was checking the craft stores for more bottles for the sprayer, but could never find them there. I have that Badger meant for sand blasting. I paid around $27 off amazon for it. Came with a can of some type of metal for sandblasting. I also need a better regulator. (smaller) My regulator starts at 10 PSI and goes up to like 80. Have a nice air trap on it already. Would have to come up with some type of over spray collection system.
