Thought of the praying mantis insect and how most of these jigs resemble it. Well, a little bit maybe?

The jig in the upper-right portion of the picture looks like a tick to me. A closeup of a black "mantis" appears below.

Here it is performing a headstand, quite possibly like it might on retrieve. ;)

I plan to continue tying with leather in the near future, but will look to produce different styles. It's been fun to work with!

Nice Pup! Where are you getting you footballs without a collar, or are you just removing the collar?

Really nice Pup!! Get a big pan of water and put one down like that and move the bowl a bit see what kind of wiggle you get from the leather laces.

First thing I thought of was a dragon-fly imitator. Almost every sm bass I got this weekend had them in their mouths.

If you try tying an imitation of it be REAL carefull where you put it. Back in the late 80's when I got all my jig tying stuff sent to my new Air Force station, I had some grizzly/dyed dun hackle and tyed up a jig, and we had these lampshades with holes and kinda of a lace wrapping and I hung it from one of the holes jig head down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Short story wife saw it and used a broom to smash it (and took out the whole lamp). I went straight from work to the store to by a new matching one!!! $85 bucks!!!!!!! most expensive jig I ever tied!!!!!!!!!!
