C'mon Jackson, just teach the young un to tie Jigs, and you have some replacements... Make him mow the yard once or twice for his jig dumping incident ;)

I have a lake here where we troll stump fields in tournaments. We have lost 30 cranks a day. (wally Divers) to the tune of 3.75 per bait. If your not bumping the stumps your not catching fish. I poured my boys hundreds of jigs so no worries there. I always worried as a kid about losing tackle because my parents couldn't afford new stuff. You have to fish in some gnarly stuff if you want to catch fish so don't worry, just pour more..That's why we do it right?

When I used to fish for walleye and sauger on the WI river I would easily lose 30 jigs per day. But I also caught a lot of fish fishin those jigs on the bottom. Now I mainly bass fish, and lose maybe 1 a day if that on a bass jig and maybe 5 or 6 wacky hooks if I am fishing wacky style.

The root balls of the cypress trees eat a lot of jigs but I carry maybe 40 to 60 with me. It when I get down to my last jig that is producing fish that I get nervous. The river will eat up a lot of pony's but that is the plan put them were the fish are. If you aren't losing jigs and aren't catching fish you are in the wrong area. One of the reasons I tie my own anyways. Got to put food on the table some how.

Acceptable amount would be what ever it takes to catch supper for 2 people, 3 dogs and a cat.

I don't lose many fishing ponds but don't worry about breaking one off either, will break one off in a minute rather than go over to where the fish are and mess them up.

I lost over a pound and a half in 2 hours last week at the inlet down at the beach lol. Dead low tide, wind blowing hard out to sea made it even lower. Stinkin rocks lol.

John,
No I am not. I am originally from Chicago, then when I got married I moved to northern IL by the WI border. I used to belong to a multi-species club for 10 years. We would fish the WI river below the dam in February after they broke the ice up and then again in September. Some of the best sauger fishing on that river. Now I mainly fish all the S.E WI lakes for bass.

The old style torpedo sinkers with pinch down ears will save you a few; particularly in brush. Hate to loose those pony heads also.
