Depends on what kind of beer you drink. If you drink only American lite beer, stick to buying. If you're into imported & microbrews, then you'll save a bundle.
But mostly, hombrewing is just like tying a jig & catching a fish on it -- sipping on a hand crafted beer you put together yourself.

My office was a small spare bedroom. The tying desk went into a closet with the doors removed.
