Hello everybody!

some of my friends call me "bucho"(like the villain in that Banderas movie), and I have to say I am fascinated about this site. Living and fishing in Kiel, Germany, there`s virtually no jig tying around that I have learned of. Folks either buy the plastics that are being marketed to them or tie flies once that they`ve learned the trick.

Most of my fishing is light tackle salt water, for sea(-run brown-)trout and cod, with more freshwater trips for brown trout, (northern)pike, zander (walleye?) and (yellow ) perch up to come. I am a proud owner of a Hobie Outback Kayak, and so far I find Jigs and Bucktails a fantastic enrichment to both my tackle box and tying bench. While I deeply enjoy fly fishing and -tying, I have more of a whatever-it -takes attitude. A homemade, customized lure that can even be scented or tipped is just about what I always wanted :-)

Tight lines!

Bucho

Welcome from Ohio and glad to have you join the site. Nice to see a growing international interest in the site.

I am a kayak fisherman myself and can't wait until the temperature warms up more so i can get it out and do some fishing.

Like Toad says, some of the artists here have a "demention all their own".

If you're a scent dipper think you'll find the wool jigs perfect for cheating.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Even after just a few days reading, I have already found great inspiration with first results: 2 days ago I went on a trolling walk with my castable, 12cm mini-sideplaner and a wobbler fly along the plain, long banks of the kiel canal. How I came up with this? Lets just say it involves a gilrl i used to date who loved to take long walks...
Anyhow, one of the problems involved with such a small planer is a very poor rate of hook-ups, as it doesn`t offer enough resistance to the fish to set the hook by itself. So after one or two hours of walking, you finally bump into that big bad aggressive 54cm brown trout that attacks your trolled fly but just won´t stick... what do you do? After having seen the march showcase, I found that pulling a UL rod out of the backpack and cast a 1/16oz wolly-bugger style spinner at it works just fine! Here`s a few pics, unfortunately I´ve lost my camera and have to use my cell phone these days.

on the right side of pic in the link you can see the actual starting point of my last walk, the double track leading away from the viewer.
