I do have two old split bamboo rods that I plan to completely strip down, those will be nice. I hate to think about the time I'll have in those but it's only a hobby. I have two Japan bamboo rods I thought would be great to learn on before I start on the others.

Be careful with the application of a paint stripper when refurbing those old rods. It sometimes melts the glue that joins the sections together.

My Dad made bamboo rods and used a hide glue which was all that was available at the time.

Great job. What did you use to strip the finish off the rod? What finish did you use?

I've redone graphite & fiberglass rods, but never bamboo. May need to start a search now.
