Yeah it’s none of JC’s or my business but I have seen two posts disappear on CDC that I was really interested in. This is an issue, to me, because they were pretty cool reads until somebody decided to play “Big Brother” and delete them. It really can’t be discussed there but it can be discussed here.

The first one was really funny; Started as a post in the DIY plastic forum with snakeriver’s brainstorming idea with attaching a spinner to a jig. Ship came out singing thnx and praises for snake’s new CONCEPT jig!!! Even after RD pointed out that the Brewer’s slider jig had been around for awhile. It was hilarious – ship acted like RD farted in church – RD had to clarify the point, twice. And the response was “Yeah they look similar”.

I do something also similar and call it belly spinner style. But I also credited the style to a very good friend of mine that wanted me to tye something like Brewer slider jig. I had posted that about 2 years ago – think it was called Proto type jigs……

I honestly think that Bob thought he had a great idea but there were two glitches;
Brewer’s slider had been out for awhile and there is a fly pattern (can’t remember the name) using the belly spinner. Ship was the one that was proclaiming and selling the emergence of the new concept.

The last I read of that post was Bob acknowledging the fact that there was something out there before his idea. It wasn’t snakeriver laying claim to being the originator. Don’t understand why that post went away????? The related post in the tying forum started by ship, Roadrunner alternative, is still up - hurry and check it out before it gets deleted.

The second post that went missing is an all time classic and demonstrates the atypical behavior of the egomaniac moderator. The post was by Rev Toby and he was giving kudos to his recent purchase of a new vise. The problem is the vise wasn’t a Dan-vise, Peak, or a Nor vise. These are the only vises that skippy has any knowledge of so they have to be top of the line. Sad little man doesn’t understand that there are a lot better quality vises out there than what he is familiar with. The cost of the vise has nothing to do with the quality of vises!!! Six or seven years of tying qualifies him to be the in house expert on tying tools???? The discussion was and should have been about the new vise – the revamped Roto vise. People are tired of hearing about what skippy has or doesn’t have. He doesn’t tye flies but has to have all the saddles and capes – yeah one day…..

I would have liked to read about the new changes to the Roto because I have one of the older styles. Instead the post turns into a pissing contest – again – about how the “Quality guy” tyes with quality stuff only. The same old huff and puff about he tyes quality jigs that last 300 fish – it’s true – people tell him…….

So he knows everything, he is going to have the last word and then deletes the post. He says something or insinuates things and when cited/quoted on it denies the fact or accuses people of trying to put words into his mouth. And if you point out the facts – you are taking “pot shots” at him and CDC.

Anyway – some fun read for a Sunday. I know some are saying why worry? It’s me - hate to see the neophytes get kicked around…

The only thing we want to delete on JC is things kids can't read.

It's really a shame that a few with their gigantic egos, should be running CDC. The large majority of us went to CDC to learn more on the art of catching crappie, not to give the chosen few back slaps for all they do. I have seen this egotism on other forums, and finally left, when going there became more of a chore then fun. I am glad I found you guys here on JC....the fun has started again. Thanks guys! :D

RD - they did the same thing to RT that was done to AF. Skippy comes back with his holier than thou routine - accuses RT of putting words in his mouth - chews him out - then dletes the post... Almost copied that one - had the feeling - wanted AF to check that one out.

jm - wasn't the first time and for sure it won't be the last. He's been doing it for awhile. As long as you tell the emperor he has pretty new clothes you can post on CDC…

oldfox - the egos ruin the experience for the newbies and drives the talent away. That's not going to happen here. I think what really happened is RT bought a vise from someone else other than skippy. RT eagerly professed his happiness, on CDC, for his new toy which really annoyed skippy. That started rants about how he doesn’t need to sell vises blah blah. Skippy doesn’t have the huevos to leave the post and show his true colors.

Glad you are here and enjoying the show....

I did catch the tail end of the roto-vise discussion... CDC has been sent way down the list in my bookmarks and only check there occassionaly anymore. When i read it, it had already run its course and was a 'closed' thread, think it was right after RT's post back. The back and forth between JT and Skip was pretty comical. I looked back a few hours later and the whole thing was gone! I missed the other one about the spinners in the plastics board. BTW, the fly version of the belly spinners are called coyote flies - still need to make me some.

Good lord, i have tied jigs and flies in vise-grip pliers that do their purpose and many i would not flinch about selling - if i actually sold. The quality comes from the hands... NOT the tools. Some people have to have the best of the best... i would rather get results from the least i can get by with! :D But thats just me. ;) Rev's new roto-vise DID look like an impressive tool to me.

I don't post much of my work anywhere for a couple reasons Especially on CDC . 1 . I busted my good camera . 2. I'm not as good as I once was at the smaller stuff . 3. I open my big mouth and wind up putting in 18 hr. days. Too old for that. 4 Tackle companies constantly monitor these sites for ideas they will rip it off with not as much as a howdy do. 6 I am here and there to help and often learn . Trying not to fall behind the older I get.
I personally am saddened at the CDC folks with egotistical mind sets . I was in a bait shop Sunday giving a short class on plastic injection some CDC members were discussing these very activities . An eight yr old boy asked his dad why the comments sounded so crouchy. His dad said he didn't know. When I got the kids attention I asked him if he had bullies in school. He said just one. I told him that it was the same thing and that bullies had the baby bird disease . Says whats that . I told him they were all mouth and full of poop. The kid was tickled to death and a bad impression was laid to rest. CDC better get their act together because little guys like that is the next generation .

Sounds like you are feeling a lot better,Led. As long as Skip's a moderator on CDC,they will continue to lose tyer's there. I posted on the thread with snake and ship,it seems every time I post over there they close it,starting to get an inferiority complex. Skip mentioned 300 on one jig, those hardbodies would catch 1000 easy if it wasn't for snags.

I've had my run in's with him also. It's sad, because there are some really nice guys over there that I would love to help. I sent the PM to Slab, curious to hear his reply.

I want to thank you for a great site. I joined because I love Crappie fishin, but also because you had a jig tyeing forum. You used to have a BUNCH of tyers that knew there stuff and was willing to help anyone. They are all gone. Run off by your moderator. If you don't agree with him, or buy one of the vises he's selling you don't know what your doing. I've tied jigs for 40+ years and have a lot of knowledge, even though my hands don't work too well anymore. I feel you should change your moderator and try and get some of these guys back to your forum.

Nice one hunter :)

We'll see how long that one lasts.

I dont check in often enough to catch most of that BS.
He does cover his tracks pretty well over there. Most cannot go back and see the carp that flows from the the fingers sometimes.

Yall should have seen the "jig wars " on TFF long before cdc :beat-up:

Hunter - I just saw your post also... i can say that i truely did LMAO!!! when i read that. To the point where i had to explain the whole thing to my wife cause she thought i was loosing it. I love it. :)

As for your PM to Slab - i had actually sent an email to him after i was kicked simply asking what 'rule' i broke to get the boot because i could not find one posted anywhere that applied... i at least expected an 'i stand by my moderators decisions' response, but got nothing. Perhaps it never got through though. Good luck - and would like to hear what (if any) response you actually get back.

You guys - saw Hunter's post, also, and started thinking about that song "another one bites the dust and another one......"

JJ1 they upped my surf time - yea

AF - good luck getting an explanation

Skippy is pretty good about covering his tracks - don't understand why. Spends all that time blowing off steam, ranting, and raving - then deletes it.

I'm interested in Slab's response also but seriously doubt there will be one.

I doubt if there will be a response either. I did get a answer from a guy that sells Roto vise's wanting to answer any questions I might have.

Fellas, Fellas, Fellas, you do realize you are talking about an icon of the jig tying world (self built in only 3 days), don't you? I mean, he tyes 10,000 jigs a day, uses $800 jungle cock, and still devotes his time to moderate, just to make a better forum. LOL In fact, i'm gonna buy a peak and a nor, just because it will automatically make my jigs (Quality).

In PMs to AF and ledhed I expressed I was DONE with CDC until he77 freezes over or until Skip rides into the sunset. I no longer post anything over there anymore. I still poke around there now and then but never utter so much as a comment.

I am of the opinion that it is impossible to teach somebody that knows everything. Men of sound mind realize that no one man can know it all. Yet there are still ignorant a***s insisting they are the exception.

I understand disagreements , happens even to the best of friends and family. What I refuse to put up with is bullying and heavy hands. Skip has never said or done anything to me personally but he has to people I like.

To break in down into a simple math equation :

CDC = when posting all posts shall help skippy sell and be acknowledged as the best jig tyer of jigs of the highest quality.

JC = when posting all posts shall pique our interests in tying and fishing. Never ashamed to ask for help and never too good to give it. And of course none of us shall refrain from tweaking one another now and then.
