Russ- I use a loop knot. The braid seems to be so much stronger than any mono. I pre- tie leaders with lure and put them in individual zip lock bags. The 2# crystal ice is the thickness equilavent of 1/2 pound mono and the 4 # crystal ice is the thickness of 3/4 pound mono. With so thin a line on a loop knot the lure can really move naturally.

I have tried super thin lines in mono over the years with no luck. Regardless of brand or type they all broke way too easy for me. Braid seems to tolerate my " rough " handling better than any mono. Have not noticed any difference in production either.

Welcome to the site Marijus. Some states over here passing restrictions on the use of lead in fishing items so can see tungsten getting more popular here quickly.

Found a picture on your site.....

Are the tungsten heads round balls that have a slot cut in them and then you are soldering the hook in place? Would love to know more about how you create the tungsten heads since it requires special/costly equipment.

Joining in with my 2 cents for what it's worth. I have found lead to be more useful when making jigs and tungsten for weighted flies. Tungsten ice jigs like those made by Skandia lures or Fiskas have their place in my box. If a guy were to replicate a lead mold to get the same shape and weight for small, deepwater applications it would be a hit as lead would be cheaper in the long run. As for the guys at In-Fisherman I had been a follower for a long time. Still some credible articles but have become product pushers IMHO. Stange has had upteen articles on swimbaits over the last few years when we have been using them here in Kansas with great success on 'eyes before the big story hit at In-Fish. Also, on their show you always see them north of the border these days testing baits where the fish don't see near the pressure as here in the states. You can catch just as many 'eyes on a cheap 2"-3" yellow curlytail up there some days as you could throwing a plastic swimbait that costs 7-9 dollars for three of them. I am not discrediting them as over the years they have been a wealth of ideas and info. They have changed for the worse since the Lindner's and Csanda left. Let's have more articles on fishing in the states. Go to some pressure spots and show us your approach. The only other boat on the lake most days where they fish is the camera boat. Thanks for listening; got off topic a little.

I guess with time constraints and sponsors breathing down their neck to sell their latest product they go where they know they can catch quite a few in a few days to a week of shooting. Funny sometimes how the weather conditions change 3-4 times in the same segment and I know they're not fishing in Kansas.LOL I will praise them though on turning me on to the shallow X-Rap; that bait has been responsible for a good many fillets and is quite a versatile, multi-species bait here in Kansas.
