Superstition ain't so bad as long - but only if you catch fish!

My "superstitions" are KISS and "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Like with Bobby Garland Baby Shads I use only 2 of the 81 colors, blue ice & white pearl, and think I could get by without the latter, since pearl is a night time color, and blue ice gets bit in the dark as well as daytime...

What are you catching nowadays JJ1 ? Similar freezing nights out my way icing smaller still water - as usual this time of year I'm fishing moving water for trout & wallys.

I've been told St. Croix requires a $60 S&H fee to replace, & no f***ing way I'm paying that since the rod snapped after only a few uses. Did file a claim back in Sept. but am dragging responding to a request for a phone call since customer service claims they are swamped and I need to leave a...

JJ1 best word to describe your artistry is dazzling. Altho I caught a few nice fish on my version of the TG not impressive enuf to continue. Nowadays in clean water without debris I use JiggerJohn Boolie heads for both pinning plastics for wallys & ties for trout. Similar vibration & flash I...

I only target largies a very few times a year, mostly to keep Bill company as at age 79 with health issues he shouldn't be out alone. I get bit OK on a catfish effective half a Gulp chartreuse Sinking Minnow stub and Bill sometimes outfishes me with his fave purple worm with a pink twisty tail...

Mornin to yah fellow jigaphiles. Getting colder by the day, how are you adjusting to catch fish? Warm water species bite here is currently dead, luckily meatheads haven't bucketed all the trout yet so getting a few tho #s are steadily on the decline. KISS approach works for me, short black...

Big fish rod break is honorably KIA, dunno about the others... Still, I don't consider my St. Croix Premier snapping on a 10# cat after only a few uses acceptable. Supposedly you get what you pay for, and thats the most by far I've ever spent on a rod.

Man those fires are hell, good thing the community pitched in. Going canal trout fishing north of Paxton one day fine, next day cupla acres burnt out obviously started by some knucklehead driving by throwing a cigarette on the side of the road. Still time to chase moving water walleye before...

10# 832 will handle anything in fresh water, don't remember breaking off. Last year I switched to 20# Daiwa J-braid Grand to shorten the long fight wear & tear on big fish and it worked fine. That line is smoother than 832 and haven't had any break offs or wind knots and it casts my 1/11 oz...

Yup, sometimes you get one on like "OMG I hope this one doesn't drop off or break the line" ! I thought your MW Finesse mold was the open hook wire keeper version. Now I understand why you mentioned "snag resistant". What kind of line are you using? I can't feel 1/16 or get enuf casting...

8# smallie might be a record in some states. Having topped out at 4 or maybe 5# here can't imagine the tug of such a monster. Do they rip drag like big channel cats? Before I seriously started to pursue wallys at night, I used 3" Berkley Twitchtail Minnows cuz they came 15 to a pack & daytime...

IMO 4" ain't a "small" bait. 3" is my biggest even for big fish. Blue sparkle & white pearl work for me too. Aren't all day sessions exhausting? - 3 hours in the dark are productive enuf for me. Few casts before sunrise could bag you some nice wallys for dinner, & maybe a ferocious tussle...

What color did the wally bite ? 3" EZ Shiner squid scented ? Being conveniently close you could investigate if there's a nite bite speshly if the ramp has a dock to stand on. If its lighted at nite that might attract baitfish and consequently predators including big catfish.

Nice one ! Dinner for 2 ? Most of the walleye jig masters here use Keitech swims. Can't dispute the baits catching ability but I don't like how fragile they are.

Actually, tested & proven when I first moved to Nebraska years ago then forgotten as I moved on trying other stuff. First time tried on a hot sunny day with the usual crowd of bait dunkers forcing me to stand between them casting close in straight out. Within a few casts had 2 chunk wallys 21"...

There is one guy here who uses the reel & pause tekneek for walleye, and he usually keeps up with & sometimes exceeds the catches of the pack using lift & fall retrieves. Mr. HU, are you attaching the front of the bait with a Hitchhiker ?

14" white bass is a chunk ! Good #s of nice fish out your way. How long will the bite last? With canal flows here shut down for now annual maintenance, reservoir inlets & outlets no longer offer aerated flowing water to attract predators & prey. The diminishing water levels in the canals...
