The member here by the name of Smallmouth posted a picture of a fly on another forum and got me messing around with some Sculpin/Goby mimics. Don - Would love to see you post that creation here or any others you might have.
Don't have a whole lot of sculpins (that i know of) around my area but L.Erie is over-run with the Gobies. They are candy to the smallmouth. All of these have heavy heads to get down deep and stay there..... Gobies seldom roam even a few inches off the bottom of the lake.
Top 2 have #4 Mustad Nymph hooks with hematite beads and bead chain eyes. Will either be a 'chuck n' duck' on the fly rod or somewhat short casters on the spinning gear:

Last one has large powder painted lead eyes. These are plenty heavy to cast with spinning gear but C-n-D on the fly rod works also. Have made up several of this size hook/lead eye clousers and use them for fishing in the river for smallmouth.
Have to see how this pattern fares next season.

I sent the yarn body tie with the hematite bead nose but by everyones response here i think i should have sent in the Arky B.Tail.
