Zonker leech question

When tying these, is it imperative that you use cross cut zonker for the body?

I've read articles and watched videos and there's definitely no set in stone way to tie these, but just wondering if cross cut is that much better than regular.

It all depends on how full you want the body to look. Palmering a cross cut strip will give you a more streamlined profile. If you palmer a regular zonker the body will end up looking like a poofball underwater.

Tier's choice.

Mine is zonker for the tail with a bit of flashaboo or silicon hair, then crosscut for the body.

Palmering - had to look that one up. Simple boy like me calls it wraping.
