This is my first of this pattern. A 1/8-oz. ball head with a #2 hook.

I hope to tie other prototypes of different sizes in the near future.

That barred look is very cool! I have done some up in orange with black bars.... they jump out at you for sure. Did you get in your new water proof markers? I have a 'rub-a-dub' sharpie marker intended to label clothes and hold up through the wash. It seems to hold on the craft for OK.... rabbit fur not so good. :-/

One bit of constructive critiszizisizisiziim (whatever?) i hope you don't mind - it is just a suggestion. I like your color choice but... to match the perch in my area, i think a cream (or pale yellow) colored belly with the green on the top might come closer. You could put bars right up through the green as well.

Thanks for the compliments Guys. :)

AF,

I never mind criticism. Often, it results in improvement. I went ahead and tied one as you suggested, plus I added a little length to the yellow craft fur portion.

Very nice! I think Attica's suggestions were spot on, and you tied up a sweet looking jig that will surely get chomped on. I think to make it look even more 'perchy', you could use olive or dark green material in place of the black on top. To make it a 'Fire-Tiger' pattern use chartreuse instead of the black on top. I think all would look very cool in the style you are tying. Well done.

You can do some pretty wierd stuff with a cheap air brush and some ink. Just hold a comb on the jig . Spray through the teeth of the comb. I have a thin metal stencil that has good sized commas an parenthesis ect. on it . Works great great for gills scales ect. I think I got it at a hobby lobby 20 yrs ago.

Thanks for your comments JJP and TF. :)

Here's another one that I tied this PM. Added a little bit of olive Polar Fiber dorsally and used a gold-colored trilobal polyester thread for wraps.

Some gold-eyed jig heads are drying currently. :)

WOW!!! I must say - you NAILED the 'match the hatch' status on that last tie - doesn't get any better than that. Walleye/Bass beware.... hell, any predatory fish!

Squint your eyes and that last pic looks like a blury picture of a Yellow Perch.
