Looking for ultralight flyrod. Looking for graphite somewhere around 8-9 ft. Might have to build it to get what I want. But just in case some old troutfisherman has a lightweight laying around.

Not looking for something super expensive. Going to team up with Wally Marshalls new reel that kinda looks like a fly reel. I believe its called Solo.
Just going to use for vertical jigging. My night light for boat casts about a 16 foot circle . So I need at least 8 foot rod to cover the edge of light where the "shy " ones like to lie.

Will consider even lighter rods like 1 and 0 weights but most of them tend to be way too short for my purposes. Presently I have a 6 wt 8 footer that I use but I think the lighter rod will maximize the fun.

I'd have one custom built. American Tackle has an 8 foot moderate fast action 3wt fly rod blank. I had mine cut down to 7 1/2 feet and had it made into a spinning rod and it's my favorite rod now. It casts great. It was made by JAWBREAKER custom rods, I think you had him make a couple for you. I had him make a custom ultra light for the oldest granddaughter and she loves it. The American Tackle Black Matrix blanks are strong yet affordably priced. I bet you can have one made for $100 or less. Mine has a custom wrap with microwave guide system but you can do one without those. Luci's ultra light was only $80 and it was made in the U.S.A. I have four rods custom built by him and actually have been leaving the G.loomis rods at home lately.

Was able to find 3M Ross Essence 8'-6" 3wt on line with Wal-Mart. At less than 1/2 the cost anywhere else.

JJ - I exchanged a few emails with Jawbreaker. Either he wasn't interested in building one right now or EBAY message system fouled up.
I don't think he could think of a blank he really trusted with those specs. Any way I really like his work and am mulling over getting
him to build me 2 really lite baitcast rods. Those two spinning rods are a dream to fish and a 5 inch gill feels like a whopper on them.

Sounds like a great deal on that rod. I usually just call him when I want something made. Real friendly guy that loves to talk about fishing and that's a plus when it come to custom built rods.
