Well, I took the wife out fishing after work today. She had her spinning rod and some of my jigs, I had my fly rod, and we went looking for white bass. She caught the first and last fish, and I caught the rest! A white bass and crappie were added to the stringer after this pic was taken...

Not too bad of an evening! The channel cat slammed my fly... Ended up being 18". He worked me over good on that fly rod!

A buddy sent me a text about 5 tonight and said he was going back out... damn the luck, I HAD to go again! Filled up my clip stringer and came home.

The gills were right up on the rocks, eating emerging midges tonight. They were swirling like crazy, but there were no bugs visible ON the water. So I took off my big minnow fly and put on a little buggy somethin and started to whup those gills!

Dang!!! That has to be fun and 2 days in a row. I bet you thought you had a whale hooking into that cat - they are just hard, consistent runners.

What fly for the WB's? Looks like maybe a red eyed chart deep clouser on your rod....? can't tell for sure tho.

Whites are running at a local river right now, i need to make some time and get over there to stock up on some 'smokin' meat. After reading this - i just might have to take my flyrod along with my spinning gear. :D

It's a variation of a Clouser, yep. Sub in marabou for the tail, and make a tinsel chenille body... then use bucktail for the top color "wing". Check out my buddy's site everythingonthefly.net, then go to Flies, then the "Bread 'n Butter Minnow" for a pic. I tied mine in chartreuse over yellow with gold tinsel chenille.
