Slow news day alert, but this is fun.
Did you know your state has an enemy? Of course you did. You may have never quite put it in those terms, but you know . . . there is that state. You look down your nose at it. You refer to it using an insulting nickname that you find hilarious. You enjoy thinking your state is better than . . . them.
I won't publish the whole list here, since it wouldn't be fair to Deadspin, which came up with it. But a few comments:
For those of us in Michigan, it's hard for us to argue with their choice of Ohio as our enemy, even though I personally have nothing against them and a lot of it is based on college football, which I couldn't care less about.
The Minnesota/Wisconsin selection is right on, and I'm sure that as much as anything else is based on the Vikings/P****** rivalry. (We try not to use profanity here on Best of Cain.)
But Illinois/New York? What's the basis for that? The biggest east coast city against its counterpart in the Midwest?
By the way, just because your state has an enemy doesn't necessarily your state is that state's biggest enemy. New York is also listed as Florida's and New Jersey's enemy, but New York's enemy is California.
As for Texas's enemy . . . well, all I can say is it's a perfect choice, and in a contest between Texas and the enemy identified, I wouldn't mess with Texas.
