Do you guys like a large of small profile in your jigs. I like using the zonker, but it may make the jig too large for crappie. I don't know, just would like your opinions. I tyed some with the zonker and cross-cut and some with just two-toned cross-cut.

Crappie will eat the larger profile for sure. What wt. heads are they?

I have a general rule of thumb about jig bulk for crappie fishing, but as with any fishing... rules are meant to be challanged. During early spring, anything goes. Once the ice comes off thru spawn i catch them with all shapes and sizes, always figure they are on a eating binge after the cold winter. Mid summer i will downsize head wt. and have better results with thinner profiles. Fall fishing i bump back up to the fat & juicy jigs. Some of that all goes along with the match the hatch of minnows as they are growing through the year.

BTW - when those zonkers are moving (cast/retrieve or troll) in the water, they slim down alot and really swim in the water. If vertical fishing, the fur flairs out and "breathes" much more when they are sitting still.

The bass will eat any of them at just about any time!!!!!

Thanks Attica, the top ones I tyed on 1/8 oz heads with #2 sickles. The bottom ones are 1/16 oz heads with #2 sickles. I'm just used to seeing the smaller crappie jigs I guess, but I'm sure they eat many things bigger than those zonker jigs. I'll try them both when the water cools off down here. About all we are catching crappie on now is crankbaits trolled around 1 mph. Ha!, I guess a crankbait is bigger than the zonker jigs.

Nice job on the jigs. I agree with AF. Different times of the year may call for upsize/downsize, and the action of those will surely trick any hungry fish into biting no matter the size. Predator vs. prey! Those will catch some fish.

They all look good. I like the top jigs best with the longer tails but I would have to fish both to see what time of year to use em. After the crappie spawn you can go to less of a bait and catch more fish for a few weeks so I too think both will be good Tye's

In the summer and early fall I chunck only Large profile jigs. I'm looking for the larger fish !now You'll get alot of nibbles on the tails and You'll get chronic hook-set phobia ,but wait for that solid thump and You'll see the results the rabbit holds up extremely well under repeated attacks from smaller fish! Good lookin tye's!

Thanks guys, I'll have a spot in my tackle box for both sizes. I surely like the way the rabbit fur looks in the water though. It moves when it is sitting still.
