The weather last week turned out sunny and no rain most of the week, so the river was able to drop some more and clear up. Made it out this week at lunch 4 days. Monday i got out my waders, but had to take it very slow on the bedrock... the algae on the rocks has started to die off and turn brown - nothing but slick snot rock. Just fished from the shore the other days.
Monday: Made a long sloooooow slippery walk up-stream to fish just below the dam and only caught 1 fish. Go figure, caught it on the way back only about 10 yards from the place i started. :dodgy: Was a decent fish though.
Tuesday: Drove out north of town to a favorit spot. Ended up catching 4 tiny little smallmouth all about this size.
Fall colors are about at their peak right now.
Looking south/up-stream.
Looking north/down-stream.
Thursday: Different section of river... more of the same little dinks.
Friday: Couldn't get any bites at all, but did see some carp feeding right up next to shore in a muddy bottom area. Switched up my jig to a little 1/32 carp bug and did get one!
Water temps are falling fast, so doubt the fish will be around much longer in my area of the river. They should be heading north towards some deeper sections and guessing many have already left since most of what i caught was even smaller than my 'average' dinks.
