Over the weekend, wife said the burners on the stove did not work. She had removed the cartridges for cleaning and though she messed something up. Last night I tried to trouble shoot and found nothing wrong.

Based on what happened if you turned oven control knob burner lights would light fan would come on,, all sorts of odd things. This led me to think oven control, selector switch was bad.

Find model # to find price on part, its a 1980 slide in oven and as it turns out model number is on side bottom rail. Cursed a couple hours trying to pull the range out and hot to thinking.... Decided to check plug voltage before I hurt something. one leg 40 volts, 1 leg 120 volts..... hmmm.

Checked breakers and found same condtion. Pulled breaker and found some corrosion on contact. Cleaned burnished and reinstalled. Oven works, cooktop works, fan work..

No Shopping for a new range tonight! Yippiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Being a 1980 model I'd put that in your work shop and buy her a new more effecient one!!LOL

But its just like, Oldie but Goody. She likes the range, it fits the kitchen, has a convection oven, 2 burners and a grill on top and has many memories of outstanding meals.

Excellent troubleshooting! Sounds like you have some decent electrical troubleshooting skills!

All thanks to my father RIP. He once told me that any father that fails to leave his son with the following skills has not done his job.
Make square cuts on a board.
Drive a nail
Change a washer in a faucet
Change a toilet seal - wax ring
Change plugs and points in a car
Change an electical outlet or wall switch
Change a tire

Those skills along with a myriad of others were his legacy. I am not an expert, but I know enough to troubleshoot and more importantly know what I can and cannot repair based on the results.
