View attachment 1Here are some recent bucktail tyes I’ve done to fill my new slit foam gama boxes. I’m working on getting a nice precise collar on my jigs. I’ve come long way since tying and appreciate all the tips I’ve gotten from all you great Tyers on this great site.

Nice looking bucktails. There are a lot of heads that are good for tying bucktails and one of my favorites is the walleye head. I like a collar when tying with bucktail or craft hair so with this particular mold I cut off the barb section and flatten the ball collar until it won't flair hair when I tie them. Here is what they look like before tying.  View attachment 4

Nice looking head . I use forceps to flatten the barb. I’ve had some heads that the collar didn’t pour and I have tied them . They are more challenging but with practice I like how they turn out better.
Jay Wirth has some good videos on tying collarless jigs that has helped me a great deal. Thread pressure tying downward needs to be tighter than coming back up.
Here’s an example of how neat a collereless jig can be.
