At a neighbor's today teaching his 10 year old to tie jigs, another neighbor stopped by and said "I have a big heavy brick of lead if you want it". Turns out it is 25.5 lbs. what he wants in exchange is 2 of my best bucktail jigs. He says he wouldn't even fish them but thought it was a perfect trade! :icon14:

Dang, I miss the old days when 25# would be exciting.

Old school culture here, you sometimes take something in return even if of no use to remove any feeling of future obligation.

Nearly free lead is always good! But are most people having a difficult time finding lead? I bought about 80 pounds of it over the last few months for $0.60-$0.80 per pound. I have always been able to find some when I needed it.

Scrap lead is scarce on the Big Island of Hawaii, unless one has connections. Otherwise, eBay is the best priced source.

Big score! That's a lead you have to follow up on Bo - see if he has more/ knows someone.......

I'm still fortunate with family connections - have 2 nephews , now, that work with hazardous waste and they get me all the lead I could ever use.

Couple months ago, I get home and there's a 5g plastic food bucket filled to the brim w/ tire weights.
Spent about a month melting it all down & pouring 'muffins'.
About 1/3 of them would not melt down, but from the rest, I'm set for a while.
