Went to the In-laws for a gatherin today. Something I'm not always Excited about. :) Anyways we had a heck of a meal. I stuffed my face with Fried Chicken and all the fixins. After dinner i was telling my Father in-law about the jigs I was tying and he asked me if I wanted a lead pot and a jig mold? Does a bear........sure that be great! The pot has seen better days but I can't complain. To a rich man FREE is Good. To a Poor man Free Is GREAT! The mold is an Ament 1/8oz oval shaped head. I was carrying them out to my truck and looked over in the ditch along the road and found a Red Fox Tail. Something tells me I need to tie some 1/8 foxtails :D Twas a good day

Great gift!!!!!!!

On the fox tail!!! before you do anything else get some Dawn dishwashing soap and wash it out really good!!!!!!!!!! use an old brush to comb it out and then run it again with some hair conditioner. Rinse it well and get all the water you can out of it. You can dry it most of the way with a hair dryer on low heat.

Check and make sure there are no bugs or larva and I mean check in between the hair all the way to the bone and all over. If there are any bugs at all get rid of it!!!!!!!!!!!! Just one bug near your other materials and you could lose them all.

On a material swap box on one of my fly boards someone put a fresh bucktail in the box and let me tell you we tossed a lot of the stuff!!!!!!!!! and seeing the bugs inside the box was even worse.

Safe first buddy!!!!!!!!!

Just put it in a sealed black garbage bag with a No Pest Strip for a few days and there wont be a bug alive when you open it. Just make sure that the No Pest Strip is at the top of the bag because it is heavier than air. Also the hotter it is the faster the strip works. I use this for items my wife picks up at the seemingly endless supply of yard sales around here.

That is a great score! Those old Ament molds pour some good heads too. Might have to "fingernail" some edges but I like them.

Yep FM I've seen a bunch lately. Many of them have been altered in some way. Can't believe what they sell for these days.
