(Tutorial) Shaggy Dub Fly

200R size 12 hook
uni-thread 8/0 olive
Black brass hourglass 3mm
purple hackle
purple krystal flash
Black Senyo's Shaggy dub
Black Az simi-seal dub

Tie on the thread to the hook point and bring the thread back to within 1/8'' of the hook eye. Tie in the hourglass.

Tie in the hackle leaving the tail the length of 1/2 of the shank past the hook bend.

Tie in the Krystal flash and bring the thread to the hook point.

Make a dubbing loop and add the Senyo's Shaggy Dubbing.

Wrap the shaggy dubbing around the hook shank for the body and take the thread to behind the eye. Add the simi-seal dubbing the the thread.

Wrap the simi-seal dubbing around the hourglass eye one turn each way in a figure 8 and two wraps behind the eye. Bring the thread in front of the eye and build the head, whip finish and add cement to the head.

That is a deadly looking bug! Excellent tutorial as well.

Not familiar with those hooks..... they look very long for being a #12. Would be nice to have the extra room to play with body ties.

People must like em Stump - went to the site and looked and their out of size 12s, but I couldn't find a 200R with a bent down eye.

Doug I seen that the 200R were straight also but as you can see the ones I have are bent down. They may have stopped making the ones I have? I was hoping they would have more of a green look to them than they have.

Here are some pics of the hooks I have. I really like the 200R size 12's, hope they get more of them in.

Here is the #12 compared to a #10. Got to remember that the size 12 hook is only 3/4'' long. In the pics the flies look a lot bigger than they are.
