These have been smoking stocker rainbows  that they put in some lakes here once the water cools down. Simple tie using rabbit hair or marabou with a few wraps of palmer chenille around the collar. Black and gold or gray white have been the best colors on 1/24 heads and #6 hook. View attachment 1View attachment 2

Nice! I like the simplicity and effectivenes. Palmer chenille is great stuff that you can wrap around just about anything and catch fish. I use a similar "pattern" of palmer chenille and fox hair as a trolling fly. Very effective!

I don't like eating trout but they are fun to catch if you can get them to jump. Caught some nice redear early part of November after the trout stocking with these as well.

What dart mold are you using, Jim?

I'm surprised you're using a registered trademark name?

I didn't eat any trout until this fall when my fishing pard Jon smoked some and now its one of my favorite fish to eat.

Did't think about the name, just seemed to fit because the trout or jumping on these. I don't sell anything listed as trout magnets but still need to be more careful. I changed the name. The mold is an older Do it mold, blue handle. Model # JD-3031A  The 1/32 weight listed on the mold actually weighs 1/24, unlike the other dart heads they have in 1/32 which is thinner and more tapered.

I've got the older wide face dart mold, but was confused since it doesn't have a designated "1/24" cavity.

Do you notice if the wide face heads perform better than the newer narrow ones?

I think the wider face would slow drop speed more. Always liked the dart heads and like these better when I want to fish deeper. I've been casting them and letting them sink to bottom. Trying to keep them deeper so holding the rod low and using a hop, drop retrieve trying to keep it within a foot of the bottom.
