I took ole Jungle Jims jigs out for a test run this morning. You've all seen his jigs... they are nice looking jigs. But i was curious if they would work down here in my stained bayous (who am i kidding most of you would call it muddy)! Well right off the bat I caught a nice gill and ended up catching several crappie on it as well. Ended up with 26 crappie and 5 gills. Believe it or not I caught all fish in 3 to 5 FOW fishing 2 ft deep. Everyone else was fishing the deeper channels. Surface temp got to 92 by 11.
I didnt take a pic of JJ1s jig I was using but you can see some of it in this crappies mouth.

Those fish were hungry, swallowing those jigs like that. I was doing really good with that color, then it got hot so I switched over to bass. Havn't thrown a crappie jig in a month. Looks like you had a great day.Congrats !!!

RE- I was about a 1/2 mile from the bank. Its a large stump field flat , most stumps are just underwater. The flat is 3 foot deep but there is a small slough or more like a ditch that angles through it. The ditch is 5 to 6 foot deep and not many ppl know about it so it makes for some nice fishing.
