What a relief to not think about political posting, which is pretty much always depressing.

After my parents pulled me out of attending church as a kid when they found out it was a "Holy Roller" version, no offense intended for members here, to this day I never felt the need to seek out worship within walls.

Outdoors tho, wow, watching critters, hugged by forest, feeling dwarfed by mountains, I feel ... something grand.

The most memorable experience tho was standing outside with Cathie in a hurricane, feeling the wind trying to blow us away and listening to huge trees snapping like gunshots. That felt like God.

Be interesting to hear other's moments, even if it swung them the other way.

You sure like these brow raising subjects, huh? haha. My 'religion' sounds very similar to yours and how i've always felt it should be. Have to find it for your self, not be told what it is. There is more than one road to get from point A to point B. Others will disagree and i completely respect their views also.

There are a few places and times that i get the feeling. It has always been in those moments that i know i am the spectator of life in general and that things can flip like a switch regardless of if i want them to or not. Squirrel hunting alone in a woods when i was young was the first i started to see it. Sitting there trying to be as quiet as possible and take as much in as i could taught me a lot about respecting the world around me. I was only 13 or 14 then. Get a very similar feeling out walking on the ice by myself. Or paddling my kayak around after dark on a reservoir without a single house light nearby. Religion is a solitude thing for me when no one is around but the earth the water the wind......

The greatest apostles and prophets went to the wilderness to seek God . Makes me think maybe the greater cathedral is there .

Religion's very personal

I was Roman Catholic, alter boy, never an issue w/ Priest, but left the church in my teens. Realized something was missing from life & started a religion quest. Studied just about everyone's faith and best you can call mine is a combination of east vs west. I attend an Episcopal church regularly because I belief that religion is good for marriage.

As far as religion & politics, I believe the Pope's recent bout with Trump on him not being a Christian because of his immigration stance was a mistake. Pope should know better than to mix religion with politics and it's not his job to judge others, it's God's.

am wondering, if there were no people, would there still be a God? Is God a strictly human idea, or would god manifest him/herself in nature some way?Is the christian god, jewish god, far eastern gods, middle eastern gods, all the same entity? Think Ill quit pondering, and go a-fishing!

By observation one can surmise that believers have different concepts of God relative to place, time, & personal need. Some create a God who will serve them, some use God as an excuse to exploit others, some need God for life guidance. We might have a better understanding when we pass over to the other side, but most of us ain't in no hurry.
