the mealworm or waxworm jig

has anyone ever attempted to tie a mealworm or waxworm pattern on a 1/80 0r 1/64 jig? i know that there are some videos on you tube on either subject? but what should i use? nymph skin, dubbing or chenille?

I haven't .... I just tip other jigs with the real deal. If I was going to try it, I would try medium size Larva Lace body material or something similar.

I have seen a plain rubber band used to create the body, by overlapinig to make the segments. Then a magic marker to highlight..

I've used the rubber band trick but the problem with them is in the heat, they can a little mushy. Some of my fly tying buddies use different colored rubber exam gloves, I've also seen some made with shammy's. Just remember when you tie a fly pattern your tying it with the hook up in your vise.
