Hawn, yes, those are gold hooks. 1/16 ball heads, no collar, size 6 gold sickles from chuckanddeb.

Fat, that's a Pearl Fluorescent Pink chenille. I got most of it at BPS. Found some more (when I ran out) at a local shop, different brand. You can tell a difference in the replacement, as the core is more white than Fl. Pink. Only five of jigs got the replacement. The marabou is store-bought, also from BPS, part of my stash from last year's fly- and jig-tying bulk purchasing at tax time.

I need to do a hundred in Electric Chicken. I'm using Pearl Chartreuse chenille for that. I've got one package, probably had some used from it. I didn't pick up any this year when I went on my fly- and jig-tying bulk shopping trip(s), because my buddy had told me he only wanted the pink.

From the way he orders, I'll probably have to buy 2 or 3 times what I think I'll actually use, and just keep that in stock. I don't have a BPS close enough that I can just give SWMBO a little white lie about going fishing, when I'm going to BPS.....

If you're going to be using that much of certain chenilles check out Crazy Angler or Barlows and buy whole skeins of it, it will be cheaper in the long run. Same with other stuff - BPS the one and only time I went didn't have much.

Fatman, I ordered three packages of the chenille from CAT this morning. 5 yards / package. That's about half of what BPS is charging. Really going to save me money and time by ordering it; I don't have to buy the gas to drive 1 1/2 hours one-way to the Toledo BPS to get the stuff. Even then, my "road trip" plans were more extensive than that; I was going to try and find a fly shop I've heard about in Dexter, MI, then on to Schultz Outfitters in Ypsilanti, MI, down to Cabela's in Monroe, MI, then on to Toledo if Cabela's didn't have it.

I really don't mind ordering stuff, it does save time and money. But, when it comes to feathers, especially dry fly hackle; that's one I prefer to purchase in person. I want to get some better Grizzly hackle, and some dyed Amherst Pheasant Tail feathers.

I was talking to my buddy that ordered these yesterday. His Dad managed to catch a big ol' Bowfin on one. I asked my buddy how the jig held up from the fight as well as materials holding up against the teeth. My buddy told me that the jig held up fine.

He also told me that he just "retired" one of the Electric Chicken versions that I did. That particular jig had caught over 500 'gills, over 50 LMB's, a few Catfish, and a Bowfin or two, before the jig was shredded.

I'm floored. That's a lot of fish to catch before the materials get shredded. Does anyone else get results like this? I know it has a lot to do with the materials used, and that some materials are more fragile than others.

That's great feedback...nice to know jigs can be retired before stuck in the bottom of a river or lake, and to handle that much ,good work?
