Not sure if this helps, but clear nail polishes changes certain colors of powder coated jigs.

I frequently 'paint' chartreuse jigs to get a yellow/orange color for a perch-style jig.

Bottom line, no powdercoat stays on the head 100%. I bottom bounce jigs on rocky/ledgy rivers and loose paint - but the fish don't really care.

I do a large batch and then drop one or two on the concrete floor to check for durability on my panfish heads. My bigger walleyes and my bass jigs get a coat of epoxy after curing so I don't check them. Like kdog said though, powder paint isn't forever.

Out here...
Yep, when you finish the cure, drop one on the floor, hard surface. If it chips you need to change your cure rate, if it doesn't chip then fish it. I usually loose um before they fall apart...

Rockwall hardness test;

Take a cured powdercoated jig and place it on a wall
Take a rock and hit the jig
If it didn't chip - you did good

Hemostats are my biggest enemy - but that's a good thing.
