Does anyone have a mold to pour these?

- Tail Spinner Lures -

Will buy/trade for a hand full of them if possible. Wanting them blank with just the tail spinner form and no additional blade/hardware. Have an idea about using these to pull behind my kayak that i can't shake till i try it. Not looking for many, just enough to play the idea out in my poorly organized mind.

Post or PM - Thanks!

When I left Erie and Ontario for the military I sold that mold off!!! Didn't Toad have one??? I thought he posted a pic of it. I'll look through the threads.

I have both of those molds the round nose and the Style "H". I assume you want them unpainted. Send me a PM with your requirements.

OK Ted, thanks - will send you out some details soon. If you (or anyone else) has used these in the past..... thinking i would want to use a split ring on the bottom loop of the form instead of having the treble permanent. There would be problems with hook getting fouled if it was attached with a splitring?

And..... does anyone actually use these?

I've fished Mann's Little George which is like the TS-4-A1/TSH-4-A and a Pedigo Spinrite (very old school) which is a cut face tail spinner like the TSM-5-38.

I've known fishermen to fish these for bass in the early spring with lift drop presentations in deeper areas of lakes. That is...until they started using a lure called a Silver Buddy (~ Heddon Sonar) which supplanted the tail spins in local popularity.

Have always found the lift drop technique with a tail spinner to be deadly on reservoir white bass, no matter the location.

x2 Pup - I have a few in a box somewhere. I finally got the Silver Buddy mold (older do it) and poured up the blanks I had, just have to get them painted up.

Familiar with the Heddon Sonar - preference around here are the Vibe blade baits....... but those are more a vertical presentation. I was thinking the tail spin lures would be more suited for either casting in deep waters or (more so) trolling out the back end of my kayak. Does the top side line tie make these type of lures more suitable for vertical 'lift/drop' presentation rather than trolling? Guess i was thinking the drag from the blade (especially if a colorado was used) would help level out the bait some if on a long line. hmm......

All the ones I've ever seen had a colorado blade on them. I watched a show with Tom Mann and he was casting and retreiveing them.

Attica,
Exactly what Fatman stated. The tail spins are not made for vertical fishing. They are made so the lure is propelled some way through the water like casting and retreiving or dragging or trolling the lure behind a boat.

You can fish tail spinners vertically like a jigging spoon. It's not uncommon to do so in my experience. You can fish them a multitude of ways. My best success has been to cast out and reel back with a lift drop retrieve.

Lift drop fishing is done with both blade baits and tail spinners in my area. What I failed to mention is that this is generally a cold water technique where I live. So, it's not just for early spring.

Here are some interesting links about tail spinner fishing:
