OK, some of us will pass this over because understandably we can't be bothered to listen to what we consider BS or low priority. But for those interested or curious, here it is direct from the source.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sotu?utm_...&utm_content=email423-text1&utm_campaign=sotu

Altho I remain politically non-partisan, I will say that this speech, the first I have listened to, reflects my values and hope for the future. I wasn't going to bother, but as a petitioner to whitehouse.gov I got an email link so gave it a go.

Uninspired to start, inspired at the end. The last 10 minutes particularly so.

I'm no fan of a president who continues to give Wall St. and mega-corps a pass, but then except for a handful with cojones, almost all legislators appear to be on the same boat. His speech however made me hopeful that wish list items I previously posted will at least get airplay. Maybe I'm gullible?

A popular bumper sticker in HI is "AINOKEA". Which was my attitude prior to 2012, until considering I was being played by a media circus. Apathy > confusion > understanding. Could have remained cynical & complacent, but now AIKEA.

My thoughts ...

In the venerable words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr "I have a dream"

Although I have to respect the position of "Commander in Chief" I do not have to be fond of the person.

I'm not going to get into all my thoughts of this administration or agenda, but the one thing I took from last night(other than free this, free that) was the middle class is in"DESPERATE" need of help.

For someone that was supposed the be the champion of little people, why are we six years into your policies and the folks your trying to help are in that situation. Your policies maybe?????

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Poetry and politics are close to one in the same.
Fishing is good here right now.
Rifles are still the same. Shotguns also.

We should measure welfare's success by how many people leave welfare, not by how many are added.

Hawn, just finished reading Tim Geithner's book "Stress Test"

Geithner was appointed Secretary of the Treasury by Obama during his first term & he worked to "fix" the economy Wall Street f'd up by dumping a sheat load of $$'s back into the company. The Wall Street CEO's who floated the bad debt were rewarded by this Administration by being fired from their 8 figure jobs and given 9 figure bonus. Not one went to jiail.

Geitner tried to build himself up as the supreame savior of the American economy and way of life, but by telling the truth, imho, he only shot himself in the foot by writing the book.

Good read if you're interested in what went on in the Obama Administration during the bad times of 2009 and 2010.

Yes, LP's third line elicited deep contemplation, and I still haven't reached bottom on the 5th line.

HU, thanks for the recommend, but my attention span limit for sordid details is a 90 minute docu. Some good ones buried in Netflix. I watched "Citizen Koch" and "We're Not Broke" last night. Like pieces in a puzzle. Particularly, I now understand the political strategy of union busting - Right to Work laws from the first and multi national corporate tax dodging from the second.

An advantage of documentaries is you get to view and feel the players. Every issue has two opposite sides of fervent believers. Bottom line seems to be instilling a sense of worth, belonging, passionate belief in a cause, and emotional target for frustration.

As for Mr. Geithner, at least he opposed extension of Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

You're absolutely right that Wall St. "owns us". The handful of legislators advocating a fix are in for ruff uphill battle. They're already under visceral mindless attack from obstruction media flunkies.
