Thanks guys. Here's another dozen from tonight. Just a simple little minnow that gills and crappie like to taste test. Rabbit tail, chenille body, beadchain eyes.

The bottom flies in the second picture are purple... Doesn't look like my phone caught the color correctly. I've tied that pattern in at least half a dozen colors, but those two seem to do it best for me!
Both of these patterns are super easy, fellas! For my fishin' flies, I don't want to tie anything I don't mind hanging on a rock or on a stump. Some folks call them "guide flies". Simple and effective!
Both are tied on a Mustad 3366 hook... The first ones on a size 6, second ones on a size 8. That particular hook is dirt cheap!
Rad, go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels in the jewelry section to get the bead chain necklaces in the size I've got in the pics. It's perfect for size 6 to 10 or so.

Next up will be some hares ears with black bead chain eyes and probably a few beadhead hares ear soft hackles to round the fly part of the order out. Maybe a few woven body bugs... We'll have to see!

Jig Man, what do you mean bucktail bodies?

Rad, those are only about an inch long. Look up Puglisi baitfish if you want to see a KILLER shad immitation.
Thanks for the comments, as always!

Nice ties!

#6 clousers....... What material are you using? Buck Tail - Kip Tail?

You have any of that Baitfish Em. left, tie in a pinch under the top wing - blends in good with buck tail.

...this is a pattern that "ain't broke" so I'm not gonna fix it!...

Well here i have been fixing EVERYTHING and trying to find that one thing that makes it broke..... :P

Size those down to #10's ( black/orange ;) ) going easy on the flash and you will have a simple bluegill fly that 'ain't broke' either. Same goes, up-sized for smallmouth..... got to love the clouser minnow.
